Our client, a growing FMCG distribution business, is seeking a Transport Manager to lead a multi-drop fleet operation across London. You'll oversee transport operations, fleet compliance, route optimisation and driver development, while driving efficiency, reducing driver turnover and supporting ongoing fleet growth.

Our client is a rapidly growing FMCG distribution business based in Wembley supplying high-quality food products across the UK. Operating a fast-paced, multi-drop delivery network, the business is investing heavily in its transport infrastructure and is seeking an ambitious Transport Manager to lead and develop its fleet operation during an exciting period of growth.
Description
Reporting directly to the Head of Operations, the Transport Manager will take full responsibility for the day-to-day management of a fleet currently comprising 16 vehicles across London and Manchester, with further fleet expansion planned in the near future, including the addition of larger vehicles.
Key responsibilities will include:
Managing all transport operations across the fleet to ensure high levels of service and compliance.
Leading, motivating and developing a team of drivers across multiple locations.
Driving route optimisation initiatives to improve efficiency, reduce costs and enhance delivery performance.
Working with existing route planning software whilst identifying opportunities for further improvement.
Overseeing fleet maintenance, servicing schedules, inspections and vehicle availability.
Ensuring compliance with Operator Licence requirements and all relevant transport legislation.
Monitoring and reporting on transport KPIs including cost, utilisation, on-time delivery and driver performance.
Managing transport-related incidents, escalations and operational challenges.
Developing and implementing a structured driver training and onboarding programme.
Reducing driver turnover through effective engagement, coaching and performance management.
Supporting future fleet growth and operational scalability.Profile
The successful candidate will possess:
Previous experience in a Transport Manager role
A valid Transport Manager CPC qualification (or recently obtained and ready to be named on an Operator Licence).
Experience managing a multi-drop distribution operation.
Strong knowledge of fleet management, vehicle compliance and transport legislation.
Advanced Excel skills with the ability to analyse and report on key operational KPIs.
Proven experience leading and developing driver teams.
A proactive, hands-on management style with a continuous improvement mindset.
Excellent organisational and problem-solving skills.
Experience excel user and familiar with reportingDesirable:
FMCG, food distribution or temperature-controlled logistics experience.
Experience working within a growing or scaling operation.Job Offer
Competitive salary of £45,000 - £55,000.
