Job Description
Transport Planner
We are recruiting a highly capable UK transport planner, with a can-do attitude who is proven in strategic planning and route optimization designed to free up assets and enhance overall efficiencies. In addition to the strategic element, you will be planning the routes for vehicles covering the entire country with complex delivery plans.
Using the transport planning software, you’ll plan for multi-drops considering delivery routes, traffic restrictions and conditions, as well as vehicle capacity and fuel efficiency. With a keen focus on compliance, you’ll adhere to all transport regulations and safety standards, maintain accurate records and ensure vehicle maintenance is up to date.
This is a highly communicative role and you’ll be the owner of a live plan, communicating it across the business to the planning and sales team as well as customers and suppliers. It’s this high level of visibility and communication that will enable you to react quickly to any disruption in the supply chain.
You’ll also adopt a forensic review and a thorough analysis of all transport data and metrics to identify improvements opportunities, resolve issues, maximise load efficiency and reduce empty miles and idle vehicles.
To be successful in this role you’ll need a good understanding of the transport industry and current legislation along with a number of years route planning and some strategic exposure but it’s your persistent approach to improvement, coupled with your ability to engage and persuade, that sets you apart.
