Transport Planner
Location: Exeter, Devon
Full-time | Permanent
Hours: Monday to Friday, 08:30 – 17:00 (office-based)
Salary: £28,000 – £32,000 per annum (DOE)
We’re recruiting on behalf of a respected logistics and distribution company based in Exeter. This is a fantastic opportunity for a proactive and organised Transport Planner to join a busy, supportive team, managing the daily coordination of HGV movements across Devon and Cornwall.
The Role:
As Transport Planner, you will be responsible for planning and managing daily HGV operations across the region. Working closely with Customer Services, you'll play a vital role in ensuring deliveries are completed on time and customers receive the highest standard of service.
Key Responsibilities:
Plan, schedule, and optimise HGV routes across Devon and Cornwall
Work in close collaboration with the Customer Service team to ensure delivery requirements are met and issues are resolved promptly
Communicate effectively with drivers and make real-time adjustments as needed
Ensure full compliance with transport legislation and driver hour regulations
Maintain accurate and up-to-date transport records using TMS
Liaise with warehouse and operations teams to coordinate logistics smoothly
What We’re Looking For:
Experience in transport planning or logistics coordination
Solid knowledge of UK transport laws and driver hours
Familiarity with transport management systems and route planning tools
Excellent communication, organisational, and problem-solving skills
Ability to thrive in a fast-paced environment and work well under pressure
Regional knowledge of Devon and Cornwall is advantageous
