With over 40 years of experience and a strong national presence, our client is known for delivering dependable container transport solutions across the UK. From their well-established Ipswich depot, they’re now looking for an experienced Traffic Planning Manager to oversee the day-to-day operation of 45 container vehicles and lead a small, dedicated planning team.
What You’ll Be Doing
As the Traffic Planning Manager, you’ll be the driving force behind the team—making sure vehicles are allocated efficiently, deliveries are met on time, and planning runs like clockwork. Your day-to-day will include:
Planning & Scheduling
* Build efficient daily/weekly transport plans for container movements.
* Assign drivers and vehicles, optimizing for cost, compliance, and service level.
* Tackle any real-time disruptions with swift, effective solutions.
Fleet Operations
* Liaise with maintenance to ensure vehicle readiness.
* Monitor fuel usage, fleet utilization, and route efficiency.
Customer & Stakeholder Coordination
* Communicate clearly with clients, drivers, warehouse teams, and customer service.
* Manage delivery issues and resolve any escalations promptly and professionally.
Compliance & Reporting
* Ensure all transport activities meet UK and EU transport laws.
* Maintain planning records, audit logs, and performance reports.
* Use Truckcom and other TMS tools to manage and improve transport performance.
What We’re Looking For
* Experience in a similar role.
* Solid working knowledge of Truckcom
* In-depth understanding of UK/EU transport compliance, especially for HGVs and containersBefore You Apply
