Job Description

Transport Route Planner (Nights) Location: Outskirts of Cockermouth Pay Rate: £16.17 per hour Hours: 22.00 - 06.30, 5 night out of 7, Saturday night guaranteed off. Job Type: Temp to Perm | Immediate Start We are currently recruiting for a Transport Route Planner / Supervisor to join a fast-paced and dynamic transport operation based on the outskirts of Cockermouth. This is a temp-to-perm opportunity with an immediate start, offering a great chance to secure a long-term role within a growing business. The Role This is a hands-on, varied position where you'll play a key role in planning and supervising daily transport routes. Working closely with drivers and the wider operations team, you'll ensure deliveries are completed efficiently, compliantly, and to a high standard of customer service. You'll need to be highly organised, proactive, and confident in making quick decisions in a fast-moving environment. Key Responsibilities Plan and schedule daily transport routes in line with vehicle capacity and customer requirements Optimise routes to ensure cost-effective and efficient delivery operations Allocate routes and provide drivers with all necessary instructions and documentation Monitor live delivery progress and respond to delays or changes as they arise Maintain clear communication with drivers and the transport team throughout the day Support the Transport Manager with investigations, escalations, and compliance matters Conduct driver briefings Handle people management issues, following processes and completing relevant paperwork Ensure all updates and key information are communicated effectively across teamsWhat We're Looking For Previous experience in a transport planning, coordination or supervisory role (desirable) Good working knowledge of Microsoft Excel, Word, and Outlook Strong organisational skills with a keen eye for detail Excellent communication and interpersonal abilities Ability to adapt quickly and remain calm under pressure Good understanding of local geography, routing, and scheduling best practicesAdecco acts as an employment agency for permanent recruitment and an employment business for the supply of temporary workers.
