Job Description

IMH Recruitment are currently seeking a Traveller Liaison Officer on behalf of our client based in Blackburn. This is a rewarding and community-focused role, responsible for managing a local Traveller site. Duties: * Manage the Traveller site, including collection of pitch fees, water, and other charges. * Enforce tenancy and site licence conditions, ensuring compliance at all times. * Liaise with residents, Council departments, and external agencies to resolve issues effectively. * Support residents with benefits advice, including Universal Credit migration and financial assistance. * Order repairs, report maintenance issues, and ensure the site is clean, safe, and secure. * Monitor and manage site budgets, maintain accurate records, and complete statistical returns. * Take action to remove unauthorised encampments and prevent damage or nuisance on-site. * Develop a residents’ committee to encourage participation in service delivery. * Carry out regular inspections and twice-yearly counts. * Work collaboratively with other departments such as Public Health and the Police. Requirements: * Experience working with the Gypsy and Traveller community (Essential) * Strong negotiation and mediation skills with the ability to manage challenging behaviour * Good understanding of housing and welfare benefits * Confident IT user (Word, Excel, and databases) * Conscientious, reliable, and self-motivated * 5 GCSEs (Grade C/4 or above) including Maths and English * CIH Level 3 Certificate in Housing Practice or above * Full UK Driving Licence Hours & Pay: * Monday to Friday (some evening/weekend work may be required. * 37 hours per week. * £18.35 – £20.29 per hour (DOE).
