The Catch-Up Academy is recruiting passionate educators across Staffordshire who want to make a genuine difference in young people’s lives. If you are driven to help reshape a student’s future, this could be the role you have been waiting for.
We are looking for compassionate, patient, and skilled tutors who thrive on tailoring learning to each student’s unique needs. You will be supporting learners who may have been excluded, refused a school place, or struggled to engage in mainstream education, helping them rebuild confidence and rediscover a love of learning.
This is more than a teaching role. It is a chance to change lives, one student at a time.
The Role
*
Deliver 1:1 tuition during school hours (typically 9:00 AM–3:00 PM, Monday–Friday).
*
Work with students in their homes or community settings.
*
Teach across core subjects (English, Maths, Science) with flexible, personalised approaches.
*
Focus on rebuilding trust, confidence, and engagement, not just academics.
*
Collaborate with parents/carers, schools, and support professionals to track progress.
*
Record clear outcomes and feedback to support each learner’s journey.
Hours & Flexibility
*
Students typically receive 6–15 hours per week.
*
All sessions take place in school hours, so your evenings and weekends are free.
*
More hours are available if you would like to take on additional students.
*
Ideal for those seeking meaningful, flexible part-time or term-time work.
Who We’re Looking For
*
QTS preferred but not essential.
*
Experience teaching or tutoring children, especially those with SEN, SEMH, or behavioural needs.
*
Confident working independently with a flexible schedule.
*
Strong communication skills and the ability to build rapport with challenging learners.
*
Resilient, patient, and creative, with an understanding that progress looks different for every student.
*
Enhanced DBS (or willingness to obtain) and strong safeguarding knowledge.
*
A driving licence and transport are often required.
Why This Role Matters
Many of the young people you will work with have been out of school for months or even years. For some, your sessions may be their only consistent educational support. This role is not just about teaching subjects. It is about showing up, believing in them, and helping them believe in themselves.
