Job Description

Are you a patient, empathetic, and dedicated Tutor looking to make a real difference in a young person's life? Prospero Teaching are seeking a Tutor to support a young learner who is currently at risk of permanent exclusion (PEX). This role is more than just academic support-it's about building trust, nurturing confidence, and helping a child feel seen, heard, and valued. This vacancy is for 8 hours per week, and additional opportunities are available. About the Learner: Year 4 student transitioning into Year 5 Presents with significant Social, Emotional and Mental Health (SEMH) needs Has sensory processing challenges Requires a Tutor who can provide Maths and English tuition, but more importantly, someone who can: Build a positive, trusting relationship Support social development and relationship maintenance Show compassion, consistency, and understandingAbout you: Experience working with children with SEMH and/or sensory needs A nurturing, trauma-informed approach to teaching Ability to adapt lessons to meet the learner's emotional and academic needs Strong communication and interpersonal skills A commitment to helping young people thrivePosition - Tutor Contract or position start date - ASAP Contract or position end date (if applicable) - N/A Full time/part-time - Opportunities for both Hours - 8 Hours per week- for the right candidate, this can be increased to full time with additional tuition opportunities Essential & Desirable Qualifications: Minimum of 1 year of experience working within UK schools- ESSENTIAL Trauma-informed and skilled in de-escalation and emotional regulation strategies- Desirable To be eligible for this role through Prospero teaching, you must: Hold right to work in the UK Hold an enhanced child barred list DBS certificate registered with the online update service or be willing to process a new application Provide references upon request Possess up to date Safeguarding Training (or a willingness to undertake this)
