Learning Support Assistant (LSA) – SEMH school

Colchester, Essex
  Full-Time | Term-Time Only

Teaching Personnel are currently recruiting for a dedicated and resilient Learning Support Assistant to work at one of our SEMH schools in Colchester!

The school supports boys aged 10–16 with a range of Social, Emotional, and Mental Health (SEMH) needs, providing a safe, supportive environment where pupils are encouraged to achieve both socially and academically without limits.

The Role:

Providing one-to-one and small group support to pupils with SEMH needs.
Supporting students to engage positively with learning and develop emotional regulation skills.
Building strong, consistent relationships to help pupils feel safe, supported, and motivated.
Assisting teachers in delivering a flexible and personalised curriculum tailored to individual needs.
Encouraging pupils to make positive choices, build confidence, and develop independence.
Supporting behaviour management strategies and promoting a calm, structured learning environment.

The Ideal Candidate:

Has experience working with children or young people with SEMH, SEND, behaviour, care, or youth work backgrounds. (Desirable) 
Is patient, resilient, and able to build positive relationships.
Can remain calm under pressure and support pupils with emotional and behavioural needs.
Is passionate about helping young people achieve positive outcomes.
Previous sports coaching or PE based hobbies would be a bonus!

All pay rates quoted will be inclusive of 12.07% statutory holiday pay. This advert is for a temporary position. In some cases, the option to make this role permanent may become available at a later date.
