Unqualified Secondary Behaviour Support Assistant – Full-Time | Tonypandy (CF40) Daily Pay: £89.38 (£13.75 per hour) Are you calm under pressure, resilient, and passionate about supporting young people to thrive in education? A secondary school in Tonypandy is looking for a Behaviour Support Assistant (also known as a Behaviour Mentor or Behaviour Officer) to work closely with students who need extra help with emotional regulation, behaviour, and re-engaging with school life. No formal qualifications are required – if you have transferable skills, strong people skills, and a genuine interest in helping young people succeed, this role could be perfect for you. You will: Support students 1:1 or in small groups with behaviour, motivation, and emotional regulation De-escalate challenging situations calmly and professionally Deliver positive behaviour interventions and act as a mentor Record and monitor behaviour incidents, supporting behaviour support plans Encourage students to re-engage with learning and routines Who We’re Looking For: We’d love to hear from people who: Have strong communication and de-escalation skills Remain calm, confident, and approachable under pressure Understand the challenges young people face in education Have experience in youth work, residential care, sports coaching, or similar roles Are passionate about helping young people grow both emotionally and academically (Previous school experience is welcome but not essential – transferable skills are highly valued.) Requirements: To work in this role, you’ll need (or be willing to obtain): EWC registration (School Learning Support Worker category) Enhanced DBS on the Update Service Two professional references If you don’t already have these, we can help guide you through the process.
