Your Role as a Teaching Assistant You’ll play a key role in helping pupils feel confident, supported, and ready to learn each day. Your responsibilities will include: Supporting teachers in delivering engaging lessons across a range of subjects Providing 1:1 or small group support for pupils who need extra help Assisting with classroom management and positive behaviour strategies Encouraging strong relationships between students and staff Helping create a safe, inclusive, and motivating learning environment Contributing to the school’s Additional Learning Needs (ALN) provision Who We’re Looking For You do not need to have worked in a school before — what matters most is your attitude, personality, and willingness to learn. If you don’t have classroom experience, you’ll need to demonstrate strong transferable skills at interview — for example, from roles in childcare, customer service, youth work, coaching, or any position requiring communication, patience, teamwork, or responsibility. You’ll be: Positive, patient, and approachable A great communicator who enjoys working with children and young people Calm under pressure and confident handling behaviour Reliable, proactive, and a genuine team player Keen to make a real difference in a school community What You’ll Need (We Can Support You With This): Registration with the Education Workforce Council (EWC) Enhanced DBS check on the Update Service Basic Safeguarding Training (Level 2) Two recent professional or character references Why Join Teaching Personnel?
