Job Advert: Upholsterer Overview We are seeking a skilled Upholsterer to upholster a variety of stools, chairs, sofas, fixed seating, and occasional items such as headboards. This hands-on role requires precision, creativity, and the ability to work efficiently within a workshop environment. Key Skills & Attributes • Previous upholstery experience preferred • High level of dexterity • Strong understanding of fabric suitability • Creative mindset with an eye for detail • Physical stamina for lifting and moving furniture • Willingness to work overtime when required • Good verbal communication skills • Dependable, responsible, and a strong work ethic • Comfortable working as part of a team • Thorough, alert, and detail-oriented • Ability to meet tight deadlines • Flexible when following workflow and priority instructions Role & Responsibilities • Work under the direction of the Upholstery Workshop Supervisor • Collaborate effectively within a team environment • Measure and cut fabric or leather using patterns, stencils, and industrial cutting tools with precision • Use power and hand tools to apply and install batting, foam, poly-filler, and fabric to wooden frameworks for hand-crafted furniture • Attach finishes, including buttons, trim, tassels, and decorative accessories, according to order specifications • Operate equipment such as portable hand-sewing machines, nail guns, tack hammers, hot-knife cutters, and other industrial tools • Highlight assembly complications or slowdowns to the supervisor and suggest solutions • Manually sew upholstery or operate sewing machines to seam cushions and join fabric sections • Stay up to date with upholstery techniques and industry trends • Follow sketches, patterns, and specifications to mark cutting lines using chalk, pencil, or paint • Inspect frames, springs and webbings to identify any defects • Build or repair upholstered furniture using a variety of hand and power tools • Adhere strictly to health and safety procedures • Wear protective clothing as required Please note we regret that due to the high volume of CVs received we cannot give individual feedback to candidates.
