Overview
I’m working on behalf of a leading tier-one contractor to recruit a Utilities Engineering Manager to support the delivery of critical utility infrastructure projects across the UK. This is a key role for a capable leader with technical depth in water, electricity, or gas utilities and proven experience managing engineering teams on live projects.
Reporting into the Utilities Engineering Director, you'll take ownership of engineering activities across design, construction, and maintenance phases—ensuring safety, compliance, and quality delivery across all utilities works.
Key Responsibilities

Team & Project Management: Lead engineers and site personnel, ensuring safe and efficient delivery of utilities works on time and to specification.
*
Design & Delivery Oversight: Oversee the development and implementation of designs for gas, water, and electrical infrastructure.
*
Compliance & Standards: Ensure all work complies with regulatory, technical, and client standards, including Network Authority requirements.
*
Stakeholder Coordination: Liaise with clients, developers, highway authorities, and contractors to manage expectations and resolve technical challenges.
*
Continuous Improvement: Monitor project performance, conduct site audits, and drive process improvements in engineering operations.
Qualifications & Experience
*
Degree or HNC/HND in a relevant engineering or technical discipline.
*
Membership of an engineering institution (e.g., IET, ICE) preferred.
*
Experience managing projects across utilities sectors (NERS, GIRS, WIRS).
*
Familiarity with industry regulations and standards for electricity, gas, and water.
*
Full and valid UK Driving Licence.
