A well-established engineering services provider is looking for a skilled Valve Fitter (Grade 1) to join its V&C workshop team. This is a hands-on role focused on the overhaul, repair, and maintenance of industrial valves both in the workshop and on customer sites.
The successful candidate will ensure that all valve work is completed safely, on time, and to the required quality standards, supporting continuous improvement and operational excellence.
The Role
You will be responsible for dismantling, repairing, and rebuilding a range of valves, including Safety, Parallel Slide, Butterfly, and Control valves. You will work closely with supervisors to ensure all work meets company and customer specifications, completing all associated documentation and quality checks.
This role requires a proactive approach to safety, quality, and teamwork, with flexibility to work on-site or in the workshop as required.
Key Responsibilities
Dismantle, repair, and rebuild valves to meet customer and company standards.
Support pressure testing, assembly, and refurbishment of valves.
Complete strip-down reports, assembly records, quality plans, and workshop instructions accurately and on time.
Liaise with supervisors to return equipment to a serviceable condition efficiently.
Maintain high health, safety, and environmental standards, including completion of Pre-Job Briefs and POWRAs.
Ensure your work area is housekeeping and visitor-ready using 6S techniques.
Participate in continuous improvement projects and support the achievement of daily and weekly objectives.
Flexibility to work on client sites and participate in standby/call-out rotas as required.
Requirements
Time-served craftsperson or mechanical technician with experience in valve overhaul and maintenance.
Experience with Safety, Parallel Slide, Butterfly, and Control valves (Grade 1 Competency Matrix).
Ability to read and interpret engineering drawings, safety rules, and technical documents.
Confident communicator with basic IT skills.
Hold a Safety Passport and be able to work in PPE-compliant environments.
Flexible and adaptable, able to work on-site and participate in standby/call-out schedules.
