Vehicle Mechanic
Location: Bodmin
Hours: Monday to Friday, 7:00 am – 5:00 pm (No weekend work)
Job Type: Temp to perm, 12 weeks contracting then transferring to a permanent member of staff.
About the Role
We are seeking a reliable and skilled Vehicle Mechanic to join our team. This role requires someone who is fully qualified or time-served, with the ability to diagnose, repair, and complete MOT-related work independently. The right candidate will be motivated, trustworthy, and able to work without supervision, ensuring repairs are carried out to a high standard and within a sensible timescale.
Key Responsibilities
Carry out MOT failure repairs and general repairs on Classes 4, 5, and 7 vehicles (including motorhomes).
Perform mechanical work such as clutches, cam belts, and associated repairs.
Diagnose and repair auto-electrical issues.
Use ramps and pits to complete repair work safely and efficiently.
Communicate effectively with the office team.
Accurately complete required paperwork.
Advise on necessary parts and explain repair work to customers when required.
Work independently while maintaining high quality standards.Requirements
Time-served or fully qualified mechanic.
Own tools and workwear.
Strong mechanical knowledge (repairs, not just part fitting).
Ability to diagnose faults and carry out repairs to MOT standard.
Good understanding of auto electrics.
Strong communication skills and ability to explain work clearly to both colleagues and customers.
Organised, trustworthy, and able to work without supervision.Hours & Pay
Monday to Friday: 7:00 am – 5:00 pm
½ hour paid morning break + 1-hour unpaid lunch
£15 per hour (with potential for increase for the right reliable candidate)Before You Apply
