Job Description
Vertical Borer / Lathe Machinist
Primary Role: Vertical Borer
Key Responsibilities:
*
Set up and operate Webster & Bennett Vertical Borers (62” table diameter).
*
Machine carbon and stainless-steel flanges including facing, edging, and boring.
*
Work to tolerances typically within ±1mm (not precision machining).
*
Interpret and work from engineering drawings.
*
Follow verbal and written instructions in English for machining tasks.
*
Perform roughing operations prior to final precision machining.
Desirable Experience:
*
Experience in horizontal boring may be considered based on candidate quality.
Secondary Role: Lathe Operation / Radial Drilling
Key Responsibilities:
*
Operate conventional (manual) centre lathes (not CNC) to machine flange blanks.
*
Machine components within tolerances of ±1mm.
*
Carry out facing, edging, and boring operations.
*
Operate a range of radial drills (3’ 6” to 10’ capacity).
*
Set and drill Pitch Circle Diameters (PCDs) for flange tapping using a rotary table.
*
Set feeds and speeds independently with minimal supervision.
Essential Skills and Requirements:
*
Demonstrated experience in manual vertical boring and lathe machining.
*
Ability to work independently and efficiently.
*
Competence in reading engineering drawings.
*
Knowledge of safe machining practices.
Work Hours:
*
Monday – Thursday: 8:00am – 4:30pm
*
Friday: 8:00am – 3:30pm
Rate of Pay:
*
