Escape the Ordinary – ER Vet Nurse Roles in Auckland, New Zealand. Salary $60k-$70k DOE
Tired of doing the same thing, day in, day out? Ready for a job that challenges you, values your skills, and gives you the chance to live somewhere truly special?
We are working with a proud independent, specialist led veterinary group with two state-of-the-art 24/7 hospitals in Auckland. They are currently on the lookout for 2–3 experienced ER Veterinary Nurses to join the night team at their Albany clinic, located on Auckland’s stunning North Shore.
A minimum of one years’ experience is required but a kind caring nurse is just as important. It is imperative to hold a Diploma in Veterinary Nursing or Bachelor of Veterinary Technology degree (overseas equivalent preferable but negotiable).
Elevate your career while soaking up a relaxed, outdoor lifestyle in one of the safest, most beautiful countries in the world.
About the role
This is no ordinary nursing job, this is a chance to do meaningful, hands-on work and enjoy the lifestyle most people only dream of.
You’ll be working 7 night shifts per fortnight (6:00pm–6:30am), which means loads of time off to explore New Zealand, whether that’s kayaking on crystal-clear waters, catching a sunrise on the beach, or just soaking in your new life on the North Shore.
You'll earn $60-$70k DOE plus an extra 20% loading on all hours worked between 10pm–6am and across weekends.
You'll be an integral part of their fast-paced ER team, trusted with everything from urgent triage, stabilisation, catheter placement and anaesthetic monitoring, to post-op care, imaging, blood draws, medication administration, and client communication. You won’t be stuck doing the basics, they trust their nurses to think, lead, and take pride in their clinical decisions.
This place has a real ‘family feel,’ about it where everyone pulls together when there’s work, and relaxes when it’s time. Without the shackles of a large vet group, decisions can be made quickly, and ideas are encouraged.
You’ll also benefit from:
* In-house CPD, paid CPD leave plus a $1000 annual allowance.
* NZVNA membership + annual practising certificate paid.
* Free counselling & mental health-trained leadership.
* Two months of roster visibility.
* Free onsite parking + nearby public transport.
* Coffee machine, lolly jar & a social committee that actually does fun stuff!
*
They’ve got over 160 passionate professionals across their hospitals, including specialists in internal medicine, surgery, cardiology, dermatology, imaging, oncology, neurology, rehab/hydrotherapy, and more. You’ll be surrounded by knowledge, mentorship, and opportunity.
So, why New Zealand?
If you’ve ever dreamed of living near the beach, going hiking after work, and swapping the rat race for fresh air, Auckland’s North Shore is for you. You’re 15 minutes from the city centre, 5 minutes from a major mall, and surrounded by forests, cafes, and lakes. Safe, welcoming and full of adventure, what’s not to like?
