Job Description

Sheep and Beef Veterinarian. From Farm to Future, Shape Your Career in NZ’s South Island. $110k - $170k DOE Are you ready to take the reins of your career while embracing a lifestyle many only dream of? This is more than just a job; this is the chance to step into a pivotal role in a well-established clinic, serve a supportive rural community, and enjoy life in one of New Zealand’s most naturally stunning regions. This is an independent with four clinics across Amberley, Cheviot, Culverden, and Waikari, their team of 70 passionate staff working together in a culture of genuine connection, mentorship, and professional integrity. They have been caring for their rural communities since 1954. This opportunity is based at their Cheviot Clinic, nestled in the heart of the Hurunui district just north of Christchurch and close to beaches, forests, and wide-open spaces. With plans for a brand new, purpose-built facility already underway, your future workspace will match the standard of care they deliver daily. About the Role They are seeking a Sheep & Beef Veterinarian with at least 4 years’ experience to join them full-time. Just as important as experience is being kind, caring, and an emphatic vet who doesn’t mind rolling up their sleeves and getting stuck in from the start. You’ll be stepping into a position with real opportunity, influence, and leadership potential. Do you have interests beyond sheep and beef? They are happy to accommodate experience in dairy, deer, or even a touch of small animal work if that’s part of your ideal mix. Clinical hours are Monday to Friday, 8am–5pm, with a 1:8 large animal-only on-call roster. To reward you for those weekends, you’ll enjoy a fully paid day off the following Friday, giving you a long weekend to relax, explore, or simply recharge. This practice has a real ‘family feel,’ about it, where everyone pulls together when there’s work, and relaxes when it’s time. Without the shackles of a large vet group, decisions can be made quickly, and ideas are encouraged. What they are looking for, you’ll be someone who: * Has a real passion for Sheep and Beef production. * Brings at least 4 years’ hands-on experience in the field. * Communicates clearly, confidently, and collaboratively. * Loves being part of a supportive, down-to-earth team. * Is organised, self-driven, and takes pride in their work. This is a chance to build a career where work-life balance isn’t just a buzzword, and where your skills genuinely make a difference. Business partnership opportunities may also be available for the right candidate. If you’re craving a career move that’s fulfilling, future-proof, and full of fresh air, we’d love to hear from you. Send your CV, don’t worry if it’s not up to date. We can’t get the whole story in a job ad so ask any questions. I’ll answer honestly, no hard sell. Come for the job, stay for the lifestyle, the legacy, and the beauty of New Zealand
