We are looking for a person with a deep passion for teaching, learning and assessment and who is highly skilled in implementing curriculum strategies for young people and adults across a dynamic organisation.
The role requires substantial experience of teaching and learning in a further or higher education setting coupled with knowledge of key curriculum issues, government strategy and policy changes impacting the sector.
The successful candidate will have a proven track record in curriculum management and development at senior level.
As well as the relevant experience, we are looking for someone who is able to provide strong leadership and management working collaboratively with internal and external key stakeholders.
You will need to be flexible in your approach and willing to maintain an up-to-date understanding of developments within the educational sector and industries pertinent to the College's curriculum, students, and locality.
Ideally you will be educated to degree level, hold a teaching qualification and be able to demonstrate continued personal development.
This is a full-time post covering all our campuses.
MAIN PURPOSE OF JOB
Vice Principal (Curriculum) is a key leadership role that ensures the academic success of students by shaping and overseeing the learning experiences provided within a school. The postholder will contribute to the strategic leadership and management of schools ensuring they meet the needs of the local communities served by the College. A key part of the role will be to lead curriculum development, implementation, and evaluation, as well as overseeing teaching and learning, and ensuring highly effective financial and resource management at departmental levels.
DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES
Leadership and Management
* Plan and agree the curriculum in line with student, employer and other needs and recommend Skills and Employment plans.
* Lead, manage and direct Heads of School to deliver the agreed curriculum offer and set challenging but realistic objectives and targets, consistent with the College's strategic and operational plans.
* Maintain the highest standards of teaching, learning and assessment to deliver an outstanding student experience leading to successful outcomes and positive progression.
* Analyse data to ensure the curriculum is meeting internal and external quality standards and implement improvement strategies promptly.
* Oversee all aspects of teaching and learning, curriculum development, assessment and student progress and achievement.
* Work with key stakeholders to gather feedback and to promote the curriculum and the College * Lead the implementation of new curriculum initiatives.
* In liaison with the Director of Finance advise and direct Head of School in setting financial budgets and achieving agreed targets.
* Contribute to the development of College strategies and policies.
* Facilitate positive working relations between employees and address any conflicts promptly
Campus Management
* Support the day to day operation of College campuses and model agreed values and behaviours.
* Deal promptly with any matters that contravene College expectations.
General and College Responsibilities
* Contribute actively and flexibly to the overall management and direction of the College.
* Represent the interests of the College with stakeholders, major clients, and the community, in all matters relevant to the duties of the role.
* Fully comply with the College's Health and Safety requirements and legal duties.
* Promote equality and diversity throughout all aspects of the role.
* Be familiar with Child Protection requirements as outlined in the Child Protection Policy and comply with its requirements to safeguard and protect the welfare of children and vulnerable adults
* In accordance with the College's risk policy, identify and record material risks for areas of responsibility assigned to the role - applying agreed mitigations.
* Participate as required in College-wide activities such as duty manage rotas, marketing activities and employee and student events.
* Undertake additional duties as required from time to time.
