Teaching Assistant – Visual Impairment Experience (Braille Not Essential)
Location: Cardiff
Salary: £89-95 per day (depending on experience)
Start Date: September 2025 (or sooner if available)
Contract Type: Full-time (term time only)
Teaching Personnel is working in partnership with a large, inclusive secondary school in Cardiff to recruit a committed Teaching Assistant with experience supporting students with visual impairments. This is a rewarding opportunity to join a supportive team and positively impact a young person’s education and development.
The Role:
Provide tailored 1:1 support for a visually impaired pupil within Key Stage 3 or 4
Adapt classroom materials and help facilitate accessible learning
Work closely with the class teacher and ALNCo to meet educational and pastoral needs
Support the development of independence and confidence in the learner
Promote inclusion and equal access to education within a mainstream classroom
✅ The Ideal Candidate Will Have:
Experience supporting pupils with visual impairments (school or care setting)
A calm, patient, and flexible approach to learning support
A good level of English (GCSE B or higher)
Good communication and interpersonal skills
A commitment to safeguarding and child protection
An understanding of assistive technology and accessible resources (advantageous)
Please note: Braille skills are not essential for this role.
