Job Title: Voice Signalling Designer - Ericsson Node and Nokia SDM
Location: 6 months
Salary/Rate:£420-£450 a day
Start Date: End of March

Overview
We are seeking an experienced Signalling Design Engineer to join a high-performing signalling design team within a major telecoms environment.
This is an opportunity to work on cutting-edge network evolution initiatives, including IMS, legacy voice, and 5G standalone (5GSA), while influencing strategic design decisions across the business.
Key Responsibilities
Act as a design authority within signalling-related projects, ensuring optimal delivery outcomes
Produce high-level and low-level designs (HLD/LLD) for core voice network platforms
Support service design across:
IP STP
DSC (DRA / DEA)
IMS and legacy voice core nodes
Contribute to automated testing strategies for 5GSA and legacy networks, improving testing efficiency and call flow validation
Perform capacity planning, modelling, and dimensioning across network elements
Ensure all designs meet security, fraud, and regulatory requirements
Collaborate with vendors to:
Produce and review Statements of Requirements (SoR)
Assess Statements of Compliance (SoC)
Review Scope of Work (SoW) and commercial proposals
Support network evolution strategy (1-3 year roadmap) covering hardware, software, and capacity
Required Experience & Skills
Strong experience in core network signalling design within telecoms environments
Hands-on experience with vendor platforms such as:
Ericsson Node solutions
Nokia SDM (Subscriber Data Management)
Deep understanding of:
2G / 3G / 4G / IMS networks
Signalling protocols: SS7, SIGTRAN, SIP, Diameter, MAP
Solid knowledge of:
Networking principles
Traffic engineering and switching
Radio and telecoms theory
Key Competencies
Excellent communication skills with the ability to explain complex technical concepts
Strong stakeholder management across technical and non-technical teams
Self-motivated with the ability to work independently under tight deadlines
Collaborative mindset with experience working across cross-functional teams
