About the Role As a Waking Night Residential Support Worker, you’ll be responsible for supporting the emotional and physical wellbeing of the young person overnight, ensuring they feel safe, reassured, and cared for. This is a low‑risk, nurturing environment, focused on routines, sleep support, and emotional wellbeing. The setting is not characterised by frequent aggressive behaviour. Working Pattern & Hours * 2‑week rolling rota * Week 1: 4 shifts * Week 2: 3 shifts * Shift times: 10:00pm – 8:00am What You’ll Be Doing * Provide a calm, reassuring presence throughout the night * Respond to the emotional and physical needs of children * Monitor and support children who experience sleep difficulties, anxiety, or nightmares * Encourage and model positive bedtime and night‑time routines * Respond promptly to incidents, safeguarding concerns, or emergencies in line with policies and procedures * Administer first aid and medication where required, in accordance with training and guidelines * Deliver high‑quality, consistent care aligned with care and placement plans * Build safe, trusting relationships using DDP‑informed practice * Accurately complete nightly records, keywork notes, and incident reports * Support the young person’s education, health, and emotional wellbeing * Work collaboratively with the wider staff team, contributing to handovers, reflective practice, and team meetings * Support domestic tasks to maintain a safe, clean, and homely environment (e.g. cooking, cleaning, shopping) The client recognises that waking night roles are emotionally and practically demanding.
