Walking Mobile Engineer (Mechanical Bias)
Full-time, Monday to Friday | London (Zones 1–3)
The Role
We are looking for a skilled Walking Mobile Engineer (Mechanical Bias) to support a portfolio of commercial offices and buildings within Zones 1–3, Central London. You’ll focus on maintaining and repairing mechanical building services while also handling general electrical and fabric tasks as needed. This is a varied role, ideal for someone who enjoys working across multiple sites and taking ownership of critical building systems.
Key Responsibilities
*
Deliver planned preventative maintenance (PPM) and reactive maintenance with a focus on mechanical systems.
*
Service and maintain HVAC systems, pumps, air handling units (AHUs), fan coil units (FCUs), and plumbing infrastructure.
*
Diagnose and repair mechanical faults quickly to minimise downtime.
*
Carry out basic electrical and fabric maintenance when required.
*
Conduct inspections to ensure compliance with statutory regulations and best practice.
*
Complete accurate service reports and communicate updates to clients.
*
Build strong working relationships with building managers, site teams, and stakeholders.
*
Follow health & safety standards, risk assessments, and safe systems of work.
Requirements
*
Recognised qualification in Mechanical Engineering (apprenticeship, City & Guilds, NVQ, or equivalent).
*
Solid experience in commercial building services with a mechanical bias.
*
Strong knowledge of HVAC systems, pumps, valves, and plumbing.
*
Ability to carry out minor electrical and fabric maintenance tasks.
*
Excellent fault-finding and problem-solving skills.
*
Strong communication and customer-facing skills.
*
Ability to work independently across multiple sites in Central London.
