Job Overview: We are excited to offer a fantastic opportunity for a dedicated and skilled Maintenance Engineer to join our dynamic team in Stanford-le-Hope. As a Maintenance Engineer, you will play a crucial role in ensuring the seamless operation of our facilities, contributing significantly to overall business efficiency. Job Purpose: Your primary responsibility will be to plan, check, monitor, and conduct maintenance work and repair of all company equipment, machinery, and buildings. Ensure compliance with all legislative requirements, codes of practice, best practices, and health and safety standards to guarantee the safe and efficient operation of the business. Main Responsibilities: Preventative Maintenance: Effectively schedule and maintain the Site Preventative Maintenance Programme. Ensure legality through a programme of statutory inspections, working closely with insurers as required. Equipment Maintenance: Undertake preventative maintenance and condition monitoring checks to ensure production machinery and equipment are maintained correctly, safely, and operate efficiently. Breakdown Management: Ensure all equipment breakdowns and repairs are carried out efficiently, minimising downtime and unavailable time. Performance Monitoring: Monitor equipment and machinery performance using agreed Key Performance Indicators, investigating opportunities for improvement as identified. Safety Compliance: Ensure all work has the appropriate risk assessment and method statement in place prior to commencement. Ensure compliance with health and safety and engineering legislation, codes of practice, and company policy. Troubleshooting and Repair: Troubleshoot, repair, and maintain a wide variety of electro/mechanical packaging machinery. Building Systems Management: Monitor and maintain all assigned building systems. General Maintenance: Carry out repairs and maintenance on ripening rooms, fire and alarm systems, and other assigned machinery and equipment. Asset Management: Develop and maintain an asset register. Contractor Monitoring: Assist in monitoring work performed by outside contractors. Reporting and Recommendations: Inform the Maintenance Manager of any misuse of machinery or equipment. Recommend modifications to improve health and safety or machine/line efficiencies. Corrective Actions: Ensure any malpractice is corrected and concerns are immediately reported to the Maintenance Manager. Hygiene Standards: Support and assist in maintaining required hygiene standards within the company. Key Contacts/Relationships: Maintenance Manager Head of Operations Production Manager Production Shift Managers Line Leaders Machine and Line Operatives External Contractors Suppliers of Equipment, Machinery, and Systems Job Context/Environment: Site-Based: Core working hours with flexibility required to meet business demands. Shift system in operation to provide maintenance cover. Uniform and Safety: Required to wear a uniform for high visibility and protection. Complete relevant training, such as Electrical Safety Training, First Aid, Fire Warden, and others as required.
