Warehouse Operative
Bedford, Bedfordshire
£13.50 per hour (£26,000 per annum)
Permanent Position
A reputable and established industrial materials company located in Bedford, is seeking a capable and motivated individual to join their team on a permanent basis.
The ideal candidate will have Warehouse experience, Counterbalance Forklift Truck operating experience (and recent licence), and a full UK Driving Licence (for occasional van driving tasks required).
Previous Experience and skills required:
* Experience within a warehouse or stores environment is essential
* Valid or recently expired Counterbalance Forklift Truck Licence is essential (Refresher course can be offered)
* Full UK Driving Licence is essential
* Manual handling and proper lifting technique experience
* Confident and safe FLT operating experience
* Basic computer skills (data input for booking work in and out)
* Good communication skills, verbal and written
* Ability to measure accurately using a tape and gauges etc.
* Willingness to learn how to operate machinery (bandsaw)
* Ability to use hand and power tools for pallet and crate making duties
Warehouse Duties will include:
* Manually handling metal bars, tubes, and lengths; retrieving items from racking and stacking them in correct locations
* Operating forklifts to load and unload vehicles and managing stock in and out of racking.
* Accurately measuring metal stock using tape measures and calipers to ensure compliance with customer order specifications.
* Cutting metal bars to length with bandsaws (comprehensive training on machinery will be provided).
* Occasionally driving a flatbed Transit-style van to deliver products to customers, typically once per week or fortnight as part of a rota system.
* Logging deliveries and material information into the computer system.
* Utilising power tools—such as nail guns, drills, screwdrivers, and saws—to manufacture wooden crates and boxes for packaging metal items prior to dispatch.
* Maintaining a clean, safe, and organised working environment.
* Collaborating with a small team and undertaking additional tasks as required.
