Water Hygiene Engineer
Location: Field-Based (Commercial, Industrial & Residential Sites)
Salary: Competitive + Company Vehicle + Benefits
Type: Permanent | Full-Time
I’m recruiting for an experienced Water Hygiene Engineer to join one of my clients who operate across the commercial, industrial and residential sectors. The role focuses on Legionella control, monitoring, and water hygiene services to ensure full compliance with ACoP L8, HSG274 and BS 8580-1:2019.
Key Responsibilities:
Legionella Control & Compliance
* Carry out temperature monitoring, water sampling, and flushing of little-used outlets
* Conduct site inspections and routine Legionella compliance regimes
* Maintain accurate compliance records for auditing and reporting purposes
* Identify risks and recommend remedial actions to ensure safe operation of water systems
Water Hygiene & Remedial Services
* Perform tank cleaning, disinfection, and descaling works
* Carry out chlorination of domestic and commercial water systems
* Service and maintain Thermostatic Mixing Valves (TMVs)
* Assist with pipework disinfection and general hygiene-related maintenance
Client Support & Liaison
* Provide technical guidance and onsite advice to clients
* Work collaboratively with internal teams to ensure service delivery standards are met
* Support clients with best practices for Legionella compliance, including training where required
Health & Safety
* Follow strict health and safety protocols and site risk assessments
* Report any hazards or non-compliance issues identified on site
* Ensure correct PPE is used and safe systems of work are always followed
Required Experience & Skills:
Essential:
* Experience in water hygiene, Legionella control, or environmental services
* Strong understanding of ACoP L8, HSG274 and BS 8580-1:2019
* Ability to work independently and manage multiple client sites
* Full UK driving licence
* Excellent communication and professionalism when dealing with clients
* Strong attention to detail and accurate reporting skills
Desirable:
* City & Guilds or equivalent qualification in Legionella Risk Assessment
* Plumbing background or relevant certifications
* Experience with fire safety or closed water treatment systems
* Knowledge of chemical dosing and water treatment processes
