Job Description
Water Jet / Laser Machine Operator
Location: Birmingham
Shift: Afternoon Shift (2:00pm – 10:30pm)
Salary: Up to £20 per hour including shift allowanc
We're looking for a reliable and motivated Water Jet / Laser Machine Operator to join our production team. This is an excellent opportunity to work with advanced cutting machinery in a fast-paced manufacturing environment, producing high-quality components to customer specifications.
Key Responsibilities
* Set up and operate water jet and laser cutting machines.
* Safely load and unload materials.
* Monitor machine performance and make routine adjustments as required.
* Read and interpret engineering drawings and work instructions.
* Carry out quality inspections using measuring equipment to ensure products meet specification.
* Identify and report production issues or defects promptly.
* Complete production records and maintain accurate documentation.
* Perform routine machine cleaning and basic maintenance checks.
* Ensure materials are correctly identified, handled and stored.
* Work to production schedules while meeting daily output targets.
* Maintain a clean, organised and safe working environment.
* Follow all company Health & Safety procedures and policies.
About You
We're looking for someone who:
* Has experience operating manufacturing machinery (water jet, laser, CNC or similar).
* Can read and interpret engineering drawings (preferred but not essential).
* Has excellent attention to detail and takes pride in producing quality work.
* Is confident using measuring equipment such as verniers and tape measures.
* Can work independently as well as part of a team.
* Has strong communication skills.
* Is reliable, punctual and has a positive attitude.
* Is eager to learn and develop new skills.
