The Role
A specialist environmental consultancy is looking to appoint a Water Quality Consultant to join its growing water team. The role would suit someone with experience in water quality, catchment management, environmental science or related areas who is looking to work on technically interesting projects across the UK water sector.
You'll work with water companies, regulators and catchment partners to understand water quality challenges, investigate pollution risks and develop practical solutions. The role combines technical analysis, environmental data and catchment understanding to help clients make informed decisions and improve environmental outcomes.
What You'll Be Doing
Supporting water quality and catchment investigations
Analysing water quality data and identifying pollution sources, pathways and risks
Working with environmental datasets, monitoring information and GIS
Supporting catchment management and water quality improvement programmes
Contributing to projects aligned with WINEP, SOAF, DWMP and wider regulatory drivers
Supporting the development and assessment of options to mitigate water quality risks
Interpreting technical information and producing clear reports and recommendations
Working with multidisciplinary teams across hydrology, flood risk, ecology and environmental disciplines
Liaising with clients, regulators and other project stakeholders
Contributing to the development of new approaches, tools and methodologies within the water quality team
What We're Looking For
We're looking for someone with a strong interest in water quality and the wider water environment, who can apply analytical thinking to complex environmental challenges.
You may come from a background in:
Water quality
Catchment science
Environmental science
Hydrology
Environmental consultancy
Water resources
Environmental modellingYou should have:
Experience working with and interpreting environmental or water quality data
An understanding of catchment processes and water quality issues
Strong analytical and problem-solving skills
Good report writing and communication skills
The ability to interpret technical information and communicate findings clearly
An interest in the UK water sector and current environmental challengesDesirable but not essential:
Experience working with UK water companies or regulators
Knowledge of WINEP, SOAF or AMP programmes
Experience with GIS and spatial datasets
Familiarity with environmental modelling tools
Experience in catchment management, pollution investigations or water quality monitoring
Consulting or client-facing experience
