We’re offering an exciting opportunity to join Bacon Engineering Group as a Fabrication & Welding Manager. Based at our Grimsby site, this full-time, permanent role comes with competitive pay, excellent working conditions, and a supportive company culture.
The Role
You will lead and manage our fabrication and welding workshop, overseeing a team of 12 skilled fabricators and welders. This is a hands-on leadership role, ensuring projects are delivered safely, efficiently, and to a high standard, while supporting continuous improvement across operations.
Key Responsibilities
*
Oversee daily workshop operations and job planning
*
Manage and mentor workshop staff
*
Provide technical support in MIG, TIG & MMA welding
*
Ensure compliance with drawings, specs, and standards (ISO 9001, BS EN ISO 3834, BS EN 1090 Exc Class 3)
*
Enforce health & safety compliance and maintain a safe working environment
*
Support with estimating and quoting large projects
*
Liaise with clients and attend site visits as needed
*
Oversee material procurement and inventory
*
Drive continuous improvement and efficiency
What We’re Looking For
*
10+ years’ experience in fabrication & welding, 2+ years in a management role
*
Strong knowledge of welding techniques and materials (mild steel, stainless, aluminium)
*
Ability to read and interpret engineering drawings
*
Relevant qualification (e.g. City & Guilds/NVQ Level 3)
*
Strong leadership, organisational and communication skills
*
