ROLE PURPOSE AND OVERVIEW:

As part of the Large Power Systems Division (LPSD), Global Engine Development (GED) Stafford delivers engine system and component testing programmes for its customers on a range of products. GED Stafford is a world-class large engine development facility supporting the division in the development of new and existing products.
The GED Test Engineering Team have responsibility for the build, instrumentation, testing and assessment of large diesel and gas fuelled engines up to 2183kW, for both current product improvement and new product introduction projects (including performance, emissions, verification and validation testing).

£16.50 PER HOUR
Hours of work - 06:45 - 16:30 Monday-Thursday (37 Hours)
KEY RESPONSIBILITIES:
Responsible for producing quality fabrications and welds using fabrication and welding equipment
Responsible for fabricating and welding metal components and structures according to engineering drawings and specifications
Required for the process in a timely, safe and efficient manner.
MIG/TIG welding components in various positions
Use fabrication tools
Keep equipment and work area clean and orderly and perform basic preventative maintenance functions
on equipment.
Perform any other work-related tasks and duties in accordance with the business needs.
Comply with all Company, Quality & HSE policies and procedures.
Carry out other duties as and when business requirements dictate as may be reasonably expected by line manager
Qualifications, experience required:
Time Served apprenticeship within a Fabrication/welding discipline, equivalent to either City and Guilds
Level 3, or NVQ Level 3 Experience
Apprenticeship served in NVQ Level 3 Mechanical Engineering / NVQ Level 3 in Motor Vehicle or equivalent / higher relevant qualification/ Transferable Military Served qualifications
Skilled in MIG/TIG welding with at least 3 years' experience.
Read engineering drawings, precision measuring instruments and job orders to determine dimensions,
Tolerance and tooling requirements.Nice to have:
Use manual lathes and mills to machine parts to exacting standards
Proficient in machining complex, tight tolerance parts
Knowledge of Diesel combustion engines and the components.
Experience in Engine assembly.
Ability to use basic 3D CAD software to reference engine models.This is an ongoing, long term temporary contract role.
Please be aware that PPE is mandatory on the factory floor. This will include ear defenders, overalls and safety boots and will be supplied to you.
