Welder – Aerospace Fabrication
Location: Sheffield
Salary: £15.58 per hour (Days)
Job Type: Permanent | Full-Time | Overtime Available
The Role
As a Welder, you’ll be responsible for fabricating and welding precision aerospace components, ensuring quality and safety standards are upheld at every stage. You’ll be working with a range of exotic materials including Titanium, Jethete, and Nimonic, using manual and semi-automatic welding processes.
Key Responsibilities:
* Manual TIG welding (GTAW) using foot pedal control
* Semi-automatic rotary and longitudinal welding
* Resistance welding and associated fabrication tasks (rolling, bending, riveting, drilling, planishing)
* Grinding, dressing, and linishing using air-powered tools and belts
* Cutting using guillotines, band saws, and snips
* Working to tight tolerances with stainless steel and high-performance alloys
* Reading and interpreting engineering drawings
* Following safety procedures and wearing correct PPE
* Handling sensitive aerospace parts with care
* Contributing to daily SQDCP board reviews and TPM checks
* Working within strict specifications and process controls
About You
* Proven experience in TIG welding (GTAW)
* Experience welding exotic metals from 0.5mm to 2.5mm
* BS ISO 24394 Butt and Fillet approval
* Able to read and interpret engineering drawings
* Strong awareness of workplace safety
* Able to work independently and as part of a team
Desirable:
* Experience in aerospace or nuclear fabrication
* Knowledge of NADCAP requirements
* Familiarity with structured work instructions (SWIs) and procedures
* Able to work with minimal supervision
