Lead Fitter for Windows & Doors – Overview
We are working with a successful, family run business based on Hayling Island who have been supplying, fitting, and repairing uPVC double glazed windows, doors, conservatories and more for domestic and commercial clients for over 15 years. They are looking for Lead Fitter to join our expanding team working on the installation and maintenance of Windows, Doors, Glazing, UPVC, Bi-Folds and Conservatories.
They work on high end domestic and light commercial properties within a 20-30 mile radius of their head office in Havant area, with our typical work locations covering Hayling Island, Portsmouth, Havant, Emsworth, Chichester, Southampton and Bognor Regis. As Lead Fitter, you will take the Lead on all installation projects, running the installations, carry out the maintenance and upholding excellent customer service throughout. The Director does all of the surveying and quoting personally, he has been working in the industry for over 20 years with an excellent eye for detail. As such, you know the job specifications, materials and organisation of the job will be second to none. They have a main supplier based in Farlington which you will go to the night before or on the morning of the job to load up and make sure you have all the necessary materials, then you will go straight to site to start the job.
They do everything ranging from smaller one day jobs i.e. Door Replacements, Mechanism maintenance etc through to whole house retrofit jobs where you might be at the same site for up to a week. They value quality over quantity of jobs; they want you to work at a good pace to maintain high standards but not be overworked, so they always allow adequate time for jobs to be completed. You will work alongside a Junior Fitter; part of your role will be to help to develop him in his day to day work.
The working hours are 8-4pm but if you can complete the job early and to the highest standard, you can often finish a touch earlier. They understand the importance of give and take – very occasionally, they might ask you to stay on an hour to finish a job and as such, they should be prepared to let you go early on all the other days. They also understand the importance of family and life outside of work. They always aim to be as flexible as possible around your home life as well, if you need to pick the kids up or have an appointment to get to, they will do our best to accommodate
Lead Fitter for Windows & Doors – Requirements
* Minimum 2-3 years experience fitting Windows, Glazing, UPVC, Doors and similar systems
* Experience with ALUK and Halo systems would be advantageous
* Full UK Driving Licence
* Willingness to train and develop Junior Fitters
