Job Description
Rubicon Consulting is currently recruiting for a Wireman on a 3-6 month contract based in Kilmarnock.
Role Summary
· Undertake secondary wiring, panel wiring, and terminations within live substation environments (up to 132kV or 400kV).
· Read and interpret wiring diagrams, schematics, and technical drawings to complete installations and modifications.
· Support testing and commissioning teams during fault finding and system integration phases.
· Ensure all work complies with SPEN
· Maintain accurate documentation and contribute to redlining/as-built updates.
· Adhere strictly to live working protocols and permit systems.
· Participate in toolbox talks, safety briefings, and dynamic risk assessments.
Requirements
Essential
· Valid Live Substation Working Ticket (SPEN approved).
· Proven experience working with SPEN
· Competency in secondary wiring, protection panels, SCADA systems, and control circuits.
· Ability to work from wiring diagrams and technical documentation with minimal supervision.
· Strong knowledge of health, safety, and environmental regulations.
· ECS/CSCS Card (or equivalent) and full UK driving licence.
Desirable:
· BESC/Persons or Competent Person status.
· HV substation experience up to 400kV.
