📍 Location: Crigglestone
💰 Pay: £16.00 - £17.50ph depending on experience
📄 Contract: Permanent
We’re on the lookout for a skilled Wood Machinist to join a reputable manufacturing team in Wakefield, specialising in fire door production. If you have a background in precision woodworking and are ready for a long-term opportunity with a growing company, this could be the perfect fit.
Key Responsibilities:
Operate spindle moulders, 4cutter, planer–thicknesser, dimension saws, and more
Learn and run beam saws, as well as other manual and CNC machinery
Select appropriate tools, machine settings, and methods for each job
Ensure workspaces are clean, safe, and compliant with health & safety standards
Occasionally operate a forklift (training can be provided if needed)Requirements:
✅ Proven experience in wood machining within a joinery or fire door manufacturing environment
✅ Strong understanding of joinery machinery and woodworking processes
✅ Ability to work accurately and efficiently with minimal supervision
✅ A positive attitude and strong attention to detail
Desirable (but not essential):
Health & Safety qualifications
NVQ Level 2 or 3 in Joinery
Valid Forklift Certification
