Workshop Controller – HGV Location: Bristol
Hours: Monday to Friday (Days)
Salary: Up to £50,000 per annum
Role Type: 100% Off the Tools
About the Role We are seeking an experienced and motivated Workshop Controller to lead and coordinate our busy HGV workshop in Bristol. This is an excellent opportunity for a skilled HGV professional looking to step into a leadership position, or an experienced controller seeking a new challenge with a forward-thinking company.
As Workshop Controller, you will oversee daily workshop operations, ensuring all work is completed safely, efficiently, and to the highest standards. You will act as the key link between technicians, service advisors, and management, helping to maximise productivity and deliver outstanding customer service.
Key Responsibilities
Oversee day-to-day workshop operations, ensuring smooth workflow and timely job completion.
Allocate and schedule work to technicians, balancing priorities to meet deadlines and performance targets.
Monitor job progress, quality, and compliance with safety and legal standards.
Liaise with customers, service teams, and parts departments to ensure clear communication and exceptional service delivery.
Provide technical guidance and support to the team when required (no hands-on work).
Ensure all documentation and job cards are completed accurately and on time.
Drive efficiency and productivity by identifying and implementing process improvements.
Maintain a safe, clean, and compliant workshop environment.
Lead and motivate a team of technicians, fostering a positive and high-performing culture.Requirements
Proven experience in the HGV industry as a Workshop Controller, Foreman, Supervisor, or Senior Technician looking to progress.
Strong knowledge of commercial vehicle maintenance and repair procedures.
Excellent leadership, communication, and organisational skills.
Ability to manage workloads and prioritise effectively in a fast-paced environment.
Good IT and administrative skills.
Full UK driving licence (HGV Class 2 licence desirable but not essential).What We Offer
