Job Description

A leading generator hire company in the UK, specialising in providing reliable, sustainable power solutions for various sectors, such as construction/infrastructure, electrical contractors and utilities, and various other applications have an opportunity for a Workshop Maintenance Engineer.  As a Workshop Engineer specialising in large diesel engines, you will be responsible for ensuring the reliability and performance of a generator fleet. Key Responsibilities: • Perform routine service, maintenance, and overall upkeep of large, containerised generators (500 KVA and above) within the rental fleet. • Follow manufacturers’ recommended service schedules to ensure optimal performance. • Conduct rebuilds and repairs of large diesel engines (15L to 60L) from leading manufacturers such as Perkins, Cummins, and others. • Assist with general tasks in the yard, including loading and offloading equipment. • Operate forklift equipment as needed. • Deliver and collect generators and ancillary equipment using company vehicles. • Refuel generators as part of the delivery process when required. • Provide servicing and repairs for Power Electrics’ equipment as well as customer-owned equipment on-site, when necessary. • Participate in the company’s on-call rota system to ensure 24/7 support. • Assist with basic maintenance tasks, including equipment cleaning, and maintain a safe, tidy work environment in line with the Company Health & Safety Policy. • Adhere to relevant regulations and ISO standards (9001, 45001, 14001, 50001), actively supporting continuous improvement initiatives. Skills and Experience Technical Qualifications • A relevant qualification in Mechanical/Electrical Engineering, Diesel Fitting, or Plant Maintenance (e.g., City & Guilds, BTEC, or equivalent). • Alternatively, completion of an approved apprenticeship in Mechanical/Electrical Engineering or equivalent proven experience in servicing and repairing large diesel engines. • Strong fault-finding skills and effective communication abilities • Effective communication skills for reporting and collaboration
