Job Title: Workshop Manager
Salary: Up to £65,000 per annum (depending on experience) + Company Car
Hours: Monday to Friday, Day Shifts
Location: Hatfield
About the Role
We are currently seeking an experienced and driven Workshop Manager to oversee the daily operations of a busy and fast-paced engineering workshop in Hatfield. This is a key leadership position, responsible for ensuring the safe, efficient, and productive running of the workshop while maintaining high standards across all areas.
You will play a vital role in managing teams, maintaining compliance, and driving continuous improvement, ensuring that all work is completed to the highest standards and within agreed timeframes.
Key Responsibilities
Taking full responsibility for Health, Safety, and Environmental compliance, ensuring all policies and procedures are adhered to at all times
Managing and coordinating shift handovers, ensuring clear communication and continuity of work between teams
Leading, mentoring, and supporting a team of engineers and workshop support staff to maximise productivity and performance
Overseeing the day-to-day operations of the workshop, ensuring smooth and efficient workflow
Monitoring workloads, planning resources, and ensuring deadlines and KPIs are consistently met
Maintaining high standards of quality control and ensuring all work meets company and industry standards
Identifying opportunities for process improvements and implementing best practices
Ensuring all staff are working in line with company policies and relevant legislationSkills & Experience Required
Proven experience in a Workshop Manager or similar leadership role within an engineering or industrial environment
A strong engineering background, with hands-on technical knowledge
Excellent communication and interpersonal skills, with the ability to lead and motivate a team
Sound knowledge of employment law, Health & Safety, and Environmental legislation
Strong organisational and problem-solving abilities
A professional qualification in engineering (or equivalent company-recognised qualification) is desirableAdditional Requirements
Willingness to attend regular face-to-face review meetings
A professional attitude, strong work ethic, and a proactive, can-do approach
