Company Overview:
Our client is a well-established building materials company based in one of the more relaxed countries in the Gulf. The business operates across multiple divisions, including readymix and precast concrete, with a substantial mobile fleet. With a diverse, multinational workforce and a reputation for quality, the company is seeking a dynamic Workshop Manager to help drive reliability and efficiency across its assets.
Role Overview:
This is a leadership position responsible for the maintenance and operational reliability of all plant, machinery, and fleet assets. The successful candidate will lead a large, multicultural team across several facilities and ensure that best practices in maintenance, safety, and team development are embedded across the business.
Key Responsibilities:
* Preventative Maintenance Strategy:
Develop and implement a comprehensive preventative maintenance programme across the fleet and fixed assets to reduce breakdowns and increase reliability.
* Fleet and Plant Availability:
Drive improvements in equipment uptime and performance, with a specific focus on mobile plant availability and cost control.
* Team Leadership and Development:
Lead, mentor, and coach a large team of technicians, mechanics, and supervisors. Foster a culture of ownership, accountability, and continuous improvement.
* Department Oversight:
Provide hands-on leadership across workshop and plant operations.
* Resource Planning and Budgeting:
Manage maintenance budgets, control costs, ensure optimal inventory of spare parts, and plan for capital expenditures when required.
* Health, Safety & Compliance:
Uphold high standards of safety, ensure compliance with local regulations, and support the company’s commitment to operational excellence.
Key Requirements:
* Industry Experience:
Minimum 5–10 years’ experience within the maintenance industry. Experience working for building material companies, such as readymix, aggregates, precast, or heavy equipment environments is desirable.
* Management Experience:
Proven ability to manage, motivate, and develop large, multicultural teams with a visible, hands-on management style. We are open to someone who is ready to take the step up from Supervisor level.
* Technical Expertise:
Strong understanding of mobile fleet management, mechanical and electrical maintenance, plant equipment, and workshop operations. Familiarity with ISO.
* Personality:
Strong, confident and friendly personality with the ability to drive change, instil discipline, and lead from the front.
Previous experience working internationally is not required, but you should be comfortable living in the Middle East and working in a multicultural environment.
