We are recruiting for a Workshop Supervisor to join a busy vehicle hire and maintenance business in Tamworth. This is an excellent opportunity for a qualified mechanic looking to take their first step into management while still keeping hands-on with the tools.
The Role
Split roughly 50/50 between workshop supervision and on-the-tools work, you will lead a team of mechanics responsible for a mixed LCV and HGV fleet. The role involves both planned maintenance and reactive repairs, ensuring vehicles remain safe, compliant, and road-ready.
Key responsibilities:
* Supervising a team of mechanics on shift, supporting development and performance
* Carrying out planned servicing, maintenance, and reactive repairs on LCV and HGV vehicles
* Allocating workloads and managing workshop priorities
* Ensuring all work meets safety, compliance, and quality standards
* Supporting the Workshop Manager in delivering efficiency, productivity, and uptime targets
About You
This role will suit a skilled mechanic with the ambition to step into leadership and grow into management. You will combine technical expertise with the ability to organise, support, and motivate a team.
Key skills and experience:
* Relevant mechanical qualification (NVQ Level 3 or equivalent)
* Experience maintaining both LCV and HGV vehicles
* Class 1 licence highly desirable
* Previous mentoring or supervisory experience beneficial but not essential
* Hands-on, proactive approach with ambition to progress
