Yard Operative – Builders Merchant | Huddersfield (HD1) | Permanent & Temp-to-Perm Roles Available
Are you hands-on, reliable, and ready to get stuck in? We’re looking for a Yard Operative to join our busy Builders Merchant team in Huddersfield. If you’ve got a UK Driver’s Licence and a valid Forklift Truck (FLT) Licence, we want to hear from you!
£12.21 per hour Mon - Fri 07:30-17:00
£18.31 per hour Sat 1 in 4 08:00 - 12:00
️ What You’ll Be Doing:
Loading and unloading building materials
Operating forklifts and other yard equipment (loader/combi lift experience is a bonus!)
Keeping the yard organised, tidy, and safe
Assisting customers and delivery drivers
Heavy lifting is part of the job – you’ll need to be physically fit and ready to work hard
Working Hours:
Monday to Friday: 07:30 – 17:00
1 in 4 Saturdays (paid at time and a half)
Optional overtime available
Pay & Perks:
Time and a half for Saturday shifts
Overtime opportunities
Full training provided – including loader/combi lift if needed
Career progression and cross-department training available
Immediate start dates available
✅ What You’ll Need:
UK Driver’s Licence
Valid FLT Licence
Comfortable with heavy lifting and working outdoors
Previous experience in a yard, warehouse, or labouring role is great – but not essential
Backgrounds such as Labourer, Warehouse Operative, Picker & Packer all translate well to this role
