Job Description
e are seeking a reliable and motivated Yard Operator to join a busy operations team. This role involves supporting the preparation, testing, and maintenance of diesel-powered equipment, ensuring all machinery and materials are kept in excellent working order and ready for deployment.
Although primarily depot-based, occasional travel to external sites may be required, so flexibility is important.
Key Responsibilities
Assist in the service, maintenance, and general upkeep of yard and rental equipment.
Load and unload vehicles safely and efficiently.
Operate a forklift truck within the yard (training will be provided if required).
Record and report usage data such as operating hours and fuel levels for returning equipment.
Support with equipment servicing and repairs on-site or off-site when necessary.
Drive company vehicles to collect or deliver tools, parts, and materials after training.
Maintain a clean, organised, and hazard-free working environment.
Follow all Health & Safety and environmental procedures.
Contribute to ongoing improvements in operational standards and processes.Skills and Experience Required
Essential:
Full UK driving licence (or working towards one).
Forklift Truck Licence (training available if needed).
Previous experience in a yard, depot, or workshop environment.
Ability to work independently and as part of a team.
Positive, flexible, and safety-conscious approach to work.Desirable:
CSCS Card.
Basic mechanical knowledge, ideally of diesel engines or similar machinery.
Experience handling industrial or rental equipment.Working Conditions
Primarily depot-based role with occasional site visits.
Manual handling and outdoor work in varying weather conditions required.
