Year 1 SEN Teaching Assistant
The Role
We are seeking passionate and dedicated Year 1 SEN Teaching Assistant to work closely with children who have ASD and/or speech, language and communication needs. You’ll be part of a collaborative team that values empathy, creativity, and resilience.
Responsibilities

Provide 1:1 and small group support tailored to individual learning plans
*
Use visual aids, sensory tools, and communication strategies (e.g., PECS, Makaton)
*
Support pupils in developing social, emotional and communication skills
*
Work alongside teachers, SENCOs, and external specialists
*
Foster a positive, inclusive classroom environment
What We’re Looking For
*
Experience working with children with ASD or communication difficulties (preferred)
*
Patience, adaptability, and a genuine passion for supporting children
*
Strong communication and teamwork skills
*
Relevant qualifications (e.g., NVQ Level 2/3 in Supporting Teaching and Learning) desirable but not essential
