 Salary: £13.80 - £14.00 per hour

Are you passionate about supporting young learners in their early education journey? We are seeking a caring and enthusiastic Year 1 Teaching Assistant to join a welcoming and inclusive primary school in Darwen, East Lancashire. This is a fantastic opportunity to work closely with the class teacher and help pupils develop confidence, independence, and a love of learning.

Key Responsibilities

Support the Year 1 teacher in delivering engaging and structured lessons.
Provide 1:1 and small-group support to reinforce key learning concepts.
Assist with phonics and guided reading sessions (experience highly desirable).
Promote positive behaviour and maintain an inclusive classroom environment.
Help with classroom organisation, displays, and preparation of learning materials.

Required Qualifications and Experience

Minimum of GCSEs (or equivalent) in Maths and English.
Previous experience working in a primary school setting.
Understanding of child development and effective learning strategies.
Strong communication, teamwork, and organisational skills.
A patient, positive, and nurturing approach to supporting young learners.

Preferred Qualifications

Level 2 or Level 3 Teaching Assistant qualification.
First Aid certification.
Experience supporting early reading and phonics development.

Working Conditions

Temporary, full-time role (term time only).
Based in a friendly and supportive primary school in Darwen.
