Year 2 Teaching Assistant – Be the Steady Hand Every Child Deserves
At ages 6 and 7, children experience remarkable growth in confidence, independence, and learning. As a Year 2 Teaching Assistant, you will play a crucial role in this transformative journey, guiding them as they take important steps forward. If you thrive in Key Stage 1 and know the joy of seeing pupils master their first full sentence or crack column addition, this role could be your next happy place.
We’re working with a well-run, welcoming primary school in Meon Vale that is looking for an experienced TA to join their Year 2 team. The role is full-time and classroom-based, with a focus on supporting both whole-class learning and children with additional needs.
What You’ll Do
* Provide day-to-day support in a Year 2 classroom, under the guidance of the class teacher.
* Work with pupils one-to-one and in small groups, offering support with literacy, numeracy, and classroom routines.
* Assist children with SEND to access learning and feel safe and included.
* Help promote positive behaviour and build confidence through clear expectations and gentle encouragement.
* Support lesson preparation, classroom organisation, and transitions throughout the school day.
Who You Are
You’re someone who understands that in Year 2, small wins matter. You bring consistency, patience, and a calm presence that children can rely on. You’ll thrive in this role if you have:
* Recent experience in a KS1 classroom (Year 2 preferred).
* A background in supporting children with SEND or additional needs.
* A calm, practical approach to classroom support.
* Strong communication skills and the ability to work flexibly with staff and pupils.
* A clear understanding of safeguarding and your role in keeping children safe.
What We Offer
At Milestone, we’re education people first. Every member of our team has been in the classroom, so we understand the pressures and joys of working in schools. We take care to match you with settings that feel right and roles where you’re set up to succeed. With us, you’ll benefit from:
* Fair Pay – €107 (£90) per day, paid weekly.
* Free Accredited CPD – Ongoing professional development focused on SEND, behaviour, phonics, and classroom support.
* Genuine Support – Interview preparation, CV guidance, and ongoing check-ins.
* Real Relationships – We care about where you’re going and will always advocate for what’s best for you.
* Pathways to Longer-Term Roles – Many of our candidates go on to secure permanent contracts.
Safeguarding
We take safeguarding seriously and expect all staff to share our commitment to protecting children. All applicants will be subject to appropriate vetting procedures, including an enhanced DBS check and relevant child protection training.
