Hours: 37 hours per week (Mon-Thu: 8:00am-4:00pm, Fri: 8:00am-3:30pm)
Salary: C1 Grade - £14.36 to £15.58 per hour (pro rata)
Job Overview:
A secondary school in North Leeds is seeking a dedicated and proactive Year Coach to support student wellbeing, engagement, and academic progress. This role is ideal for individuals passionate about pastoral care, mentoring, and helping young people overcome barriers to learning.
The Year Coach will work closely with the school's Achievement Leader to identify and support students who are underperforming or facing challenges. The role involves a mix of coaching, pastoral support, administrative duties, and collaboration with staff, families, and external agencies.
Key Responsibilities:
Student Support & Coaching
Provide daily support to vulnerable students, including morning greetings and preparation for learning.
Deliver targeted coaching sessions as part of the school's intervention programme.
Monitor student progress using school data and contribute to support plans.
Organise and lead after-school study support sessions.
Pastoral & Behavioural Support
Attend assemblies and pastoral meetings.
Respond to student concerns and referrals in the absence of the Achievement Leader.
Liaise with the Behaviour Team regarding incidents and interventions.
Be available during break and lunch times to support vulnerable students.
Parental Engagement
Communicate regularly with parents/carers regarding student progress, attendance, and behaviour.
Lead and attend meetings with families.
Make home visits when necessary to support student engagement.
Administrative & Collaborative Duties
Maintain accurate records of interventions and student progress.
Assist in organising key school events such as consultation evenings and guided choices.
Collaborate with external agencies and internal staff to ensure cohesive support for students.
Professional Development
Stay informed about current inclusion strategies and curriculum developments.
Participate in CPD and performance management processes.
Attend relevant training and meetings as directed by the leadership team.
Additional Duties:
Provide in-class support as directed.
Invigilate exams when required.
Undertake lunch and break duties.
Support students across year groups depending on school needs.
