Youth Worker Within SEN Schools, Amesbury
We are looking for a compassionate and proactive Youth Worker to join a warm and inclusive SEN school in Amesbury. This is an excellent opportunity for someone who is passionate about supporting children and young people with additional needs, helping them grow in confidence, resilience, communication, and independence.
The Role
As a Youth Worker in this specialist setting, you will:
Build positive, meaningful relationships with pupils aged 4–11 with a range of needs, including ASD, communication difficulties, learning delays, SEMH needs, and sensory differences.
Provide 1:1 mentoring, small-group support, and pastoral guidance.
Support emotional regulation, social development, behaviour, and engagement in learning.
Promote confidence, independence, and life skills throughout the school day.
Assist the class team with daily routines and provide a calm, consistent presence.
Adapt to pupils’ changing emotional or behavioural needs with patience and understanding.
Support with personal care and moving & handling where required (training can be provided).

Requirements
To be considered for the Youth Worker position, you will:
Have a genuine desire to support children with additional needs.
Be patient, nurturing, and emotionally resilient.
Have experience supporting children or young people (formal or informal).
Have some understanding of SEN such as ASD, communication needs, sensory needs, or SEMH.
Be confident with behaviour support and building rapport with pupils.
Be willing to assist with personal care when required.
Hold a DBS registered on the Update Service, or be willing to apply for one.
Have your own transport (desirable).
Be open to CPD and ongoing training opportunities.
Salary
£88.92 – £91.00 per day, dependent on experience and qualifications.
