Assistant Accountant – Fixed Term (9 Months)
Location: Glasgow
Salary: £32k (DOE)
Contract: Fixed Term – 9 Months
Working Pattern: Hybrid (2/3 days per week in office)

We are delighted to be partnering with a leading public sector organisation based in Glasgow who are seeking an Assistant Accountant to join their finance team on a 9-month fixed term contract.

Key Responsibilities:
Maintain accurate financial records and support the integrity of the organisation’s financial systems.
Assist in the preparation of management accounts and financial reports.
Manage and maintain the fixed asset register.
Support payroll processes and ensure accuracy and compliance with relevant policies.
Processing transactions through the group’s financial ledgers.
Completing and processing travel claims.
Responsible for all Cash Book processing and daily to monthly bank reconciliations.
Responsible for day-to-day credit control, monitoring overdue sales ledger invoices, sending out monthly customer statements, processing sales ledger journals and chasing overdue accounts.
Responsible for banking and allocating all Head Office receipts.
Responsible for processing of all purchase ledger invoices, including ensuring budget holders adhere to the purchase order procedures and reconciling suppliers’ statements.
Coordination and creation of weekly creditors payment runs for processing and review by the Financial Controller.
Providing administrative support to the Financial Controller, Assistant Accountants and assisting the Finance team with other work/projects as appropriate/required.
Essential Experience & Skills:
Proven experience within an accounting or finance environment, with sound record-keeping skills.
Strong understanding of accounting processes
Knowledge of payroll systems and procedures.
Proficiency in Microsoft Excel and general Microsoft Office applications.Pertemps acts as both an employment business and an employment agency.
