Bookkeeper (Part-Time)
Location: Godalming GU7 (or possibly Bracknell RG12)
Pay: £15.00 – £18.00 per hour
Job Type: Part-Time, Permanent
Working Hours
  * Approximately 18 hours per week
  * Days: Tuesday, Wednesday, Thursday
  * Start time: 9:00am
  * Flexible working hours may be considered
  * Occasional overtime may be required
Overview
Jackson & Gocher Hire Centre is looking for a Bookkeeper to join their small family-run business. The role will initially be based in their Godalming office, with the potential opportunity to work in the Bracknell area in the future.
The ideal start date is late April or early May; however, alternative arrangements may be considered.
Key Responsibilities
  * Maintain the sales ledger, ensuring receipts and payments are accurately recorded in Sage and allocated correctly
  * Manage the purchase ledger, including posting supplier invoices and utility bills, raising queries, and ensuring timely payments
  * Prepare and submit quarterly VAT returns, ensuring all payments are made on time
  * Perform month-end processes, including:
  * Producing month-end reports
  * Generating and reconciling period end
  * Producing monthly trial balances
  * Ensure all staff payments, taxes, and pensions are processed accurately and on time
  * Produce year-end reports and generate the year-end trial balance
Skills & Experience Required
  * Proven experience using Sage or similar bookkeeping software
  * Strong understanding of accounts payable processes and bookkeeping principles
  * Excellent organisational skills and attention to detail
  * Ability to work independently and manage multiple tasks within deadlines
  * References from a previous employer will be required
