Breeding Unit Manager
Salary: £50,000 + up to 10% bonus paid twice yearly + 3-bedroom company property + excellent benefits!
Our client is a progressive, fifth-generation family farming business based in North Lincolnshire, combining traditional values with modern, sustainable and innovative food production.
An exciting opportunity has arisen for an experienced Breeding Unit Manager to take responsibility for a successful 750-sow breeding unit, leading a strong team of six and managing all aspects of welfare, production, people, compliance and financial performance.
The Role
You will take day-to-day responsibility for the breeding unit, ensuring consistently high standards of animal welfare and production performance. Duties will include:
· Leading, motivating and developing the unit team
· Managing breeding performance from service through to farrowing and weaning
· Monitoring herd health, vaccination, treatments and medicine records
· Maintaining excellent biosecurity and Red Tractor compliance standards
· Monitoring production data, stock records and unit performance against targets
· Managing feed, supplies, maintenance and site resources
· Organising staff rotas, weekend cover and daily work routines
· Working closely with senior management, vets and other internal stakeholders to drive continuous improvement
· Managing the unit budget and contributing to wider pig production strategy
About You
The successful candidate will have:
· Proven experience managing a pig breeding unit
· Strong knowledge across all stages of breeding production, including service, farrowing and weaning
· Excellent understanding of pig welfare, behaviour, herd health and biosecurity
· Previous experience leading and managing a team
· Strong organisational, communication and problem-solving skills
· Confidence using herd management systems, spreadsheets and routine reporting tools
· A proactive approach with the ability to identify issues and deliver sustainable improvements

Working Pattern
This role operates on a two-week rota:
Week 1: Monday to Thursday, 7:00am-4:00pm
Week 2: Monday to Friday, 7:00am-4:00pm, plus Saturday & Sunday approximately 7:00am-11:00am.
