Job Description

Principal People are working with a well-established Health and Safety Consultancy, to recruit a Building Control Surveyor to be working across projects with a variation of clients predominantly within the North-West region. This will be an ongoing contract looking initially at 12 months with likelihood to continue beyond this. This is to pay the successful candidate a day rate of £(Apply online only)/day.
This key on-site role will involve working closely with developers, contractors, architects, designers, and client-appointed Building Control Bodies, providing expert guidance and ensuring statutory compliance is achieved, documented, and tracked.
You will be engaged from the early design stage through to full project lifecycle oversight, supporting clients across the North-West. This highly autonomous role allows you to manage your own diary and work flexibly. Reporting to the Operations Director, you will join a growing team and gain exposure to a wide variety of residential, housebuilding and other projects.
Key Responsibilities:
  * Carry out planned checks, site inspections, and technical assessments across projects
  * Ensure compliance with Building Regulations 2022, Building Safety Act, and relevant Approved Documents
  * Support the Building Regulations Principal Designer function and identify compliance risks early
  * Advise project teams on fire safety, structural, and accessibility requirements
  * Liaise with Building Control Bodies to support approvals and resolve issues
  * Manage workload independently while meeting programme deadlines
What you will need:
  * RICS-accredited qualification, or Chartered/Associate level membership
  * Degree, diploma, or equivalent qualification in Building Control/Building Surveying/Construction
  * Strong knowledge of Building Regulations 2022, Building Safety Act, CDM Regulations, and fire safety/structural standards
